A recent listing in Spotlight (via The Direct) indicates that Scottish actor Duncan Pow will return as Ruescott Melshi for the upcoming second season of “Star Wars: Andor” on the Disney+ service.
The series was in production in the UK earlier this year and was able to continue through the writer’s strike. Filming had to be halted though when the actor’s strike kicked off.
The new season will serve as a bridge between the events of the first season of “Andor” and “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”. The Melshi character has appeared in both.
The character appeared in “Andor” as one of the prisoners in the Imperial Prison Complex on the moon Narkina 5 during the show’s most acclaimed multi-episode arc.
During his stay, he met fellow inmate Cassian Andor with the pair ultimately escaping together. After fleeing the planet, Melshi parted ways with Andor.
By the time “Rogue One” roles around, Melshi serves as the leader a rebel extraction team during the rescue of Jyn Erso from a labor camp. Melshi then helps Andor assemble the ragtag group of volunteers dubbed ‘Rogue One’ and is seen in the final battle on Scarif.
The next season covers multiple years in the timeline, so it’s not clear how many episodes Melshi might show up in.
