“Resident Evil Requiem” Sets Completion Record

Capcom

This year’s “Resident Evil: Requiem” has achieved the highest completion rate for any game in the history of the franchise.

The game boasts the ‘Rookie Agent’ achievement on Steam and PlayStation, which is granted to anyone who completes the game’s main story on casual difficulty or higher.

The PC version of the title has seen 72.9% of players landing that achievement, easily the highest to date. The same goes for the PlayStation version at 69.3%. Helping it along is a relatively tight campaign length of around 10-14 hours.

Comparatively, the next highest completion rate was the “Resident Evil 4 Remake” at 60.4% on Steam and 54.7% on PlayStation, and “Resident Evil Village” at 58% on Steam and 39.6% on PlayStation. On PC, the “Resident Evil 2” and “Resident Evil 3” remakes both sit at 51%.

The news comes from Automaton Media (via RE News), which previously reported that 90% of players chose to play in the default third-person perspective for their first playthrough of Leon’s action-oriented sections – only 10% switching to first person.

In contrast, 60% stuck with the default first-person settings for the Grace scenes, while 40% switched to third person. PC players were most likely to stick with first person in both sections, while Asian markets were most likely to switch to third person.

The completion rate for ‘Requiem’ is enormous compared to many other AAA titles. PlayStation exclusives like “Spider-Man” and “God of War” are considered high in the 45-55% range.

More regular titles generally sit in the 30-35% range, including “Cyberpunk 2077” (35.4%), “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” (33.9%), “Assassin’s Creed Odyssey” (32.3%) and “Doom Eternal” (31.9%).

Hardcore gamers may consider games with campaigns under 24 hours in length to be too short, but long games boast some of the smallest completion rates, including “GTA V” (23.8%), “Baldur’s Gate 3” (23.5%), and “Red Dead Redemption 2” (20.4%).
