Audible’s lavish new audiobook adaptation of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” has gotten tongues wagging today with a video clip showing actors Jonathan Bailey (“Wicked”) and Ella Purnell (“Fallout”) recording scenes for the release.
Released by Entertainment Tonight today, the moment in question is Dracula’s seduction of Mina, with both actors going full on with their performances during their tapings.
Bailey in particular, who’s about to hand over his Sexiest Man Alive crown in the next few weeks to this year’s winner, is causing a flutter on social media with the video. An audio clip has also been released of Jonathan Harker (Enola Holmes & House of Guinness’ Louis Partridge) seduction by the three brides.
Bailey has already racked up multiple audiobooks and video game voice roles in his time, from playing Jack Rackham in the female pirate drama “Hell Cats” to G’raha Tia in “Final Fantasy XIV”.
He, Purnell and Partridge lead a cast that also includes Aimee Lou Wood (“The White Lotus”) as Lucy Westenra, David Jonsson (“Alien Romulus”) as Dr. John Seward, Johnny Flynn (“Ripley”) as Renfield, Lesley Manville (“The Crown”) as Mrs. Westenra, and Maggie Gyllenhaal (“The Dark Knight”) as Professor Van Helsing.
Revered horror director Mary Lambert (“Pet Sematary”) makes her audiobook debut, leading the cast of what’s being pushed as the service’s biggest release to date. “Dracula” arrives on Audible today.
