Peacock has given the green light for its first live-action TV series based on the “Fast and the Furious” franchise.
Mike Daniels (“Sons of Anarchy”) and Wolfe Coleman (“9-1-1: Lone Star”) will write and serve as co-showrunners on the project, which was first announced at NBCUniversal’s Upfront event back in May.
At the time, it was said up to four different TV shows set in the “Fast and Furious” universe were in development, with only this one from Universal Television making any serious progress at the time.
The streamer would evaluate all four before deciding whether to proceed with any of them. Now they have for this one at least.
Vin Diesel will executive produce the series based on the franchise which has made more than $7 billion at the global box office over the past 25 years.
Sam Vincent, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Jeff Kirschenbaum and Chris Morgan are also on board to executive produce the series, which will premiere in 2028.
