Best Pancakes in the County
IFC has acquired U.S. rights to action-thriller “Best Pancakes In The County” that is written and directed by Ken Sanzel and stars Nicolas Cage, Justin Long, Shelley Hennig, Lauren German and Ravi Patel. The film will hit cinemas and digital on November 20th.
Set over the course of one explosive night, an unassuming small-town diner becomes the epicenter of a deadly standoff involving rogue federal agents, a fast-talking con man with a dangerous past and a waitress harboring secrets of her own. [Source: Deadline]
Tesseract
Actor Glen Powell has reportedly edited the Sam Esmail-directed sci-fi film “Tesseract” at Amazon MGM and United Artists. Filming was supposed to take place in London and Hungary over the summer, but it didn’t happen with Powell exiting after having ‘questions’ about the script. Powell recently shot the second season of Hulu’s “Chad Powers” and has J.J. Abrams’ “The Great Beyond” coming next year. [Source: World of Reel]
The Watcher
Filming will kick off this Fall in New York on the second season of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s “The Watcher,” four years after a renewal was handed out. Naomi Watts, Bobby Cannavale, Margo Martindale and Isabel Gravitt are all returning from the first season. [Source: Deadline]
Fred Astaire
Talia Ryder (“Honey Don’t,” “West Side Story”) is the latest to join the Tom Holland-led Fred Astaire biopic at Sony Pictures. Ryder will play June Allyson, a dancer and MGM actress who was originally set to star opposite Astaire in the musical film “Royal Wedding”.
She joins a cast that includes Margaret Qualley to play Adele Astaire, Fred’s older sister and Broadway partner, and Sabrina Carpenter as Ginger Rogers, Fred Astaire’s frequent film co-star. Paul King is directing from a screenplay he wrote with Steven Levenson. [Source: THR]
