The third “Sicario” is looking more and more like it’s happening.
Back in August during “The Dog Stars” promotion, actor Josh Brolin revealed that not only was the long-gestating film finally happening, but shooting would begin ‘soon’.
Denis Villeneuve helmed the first while Stefano Sollima directed the sequel using scripts by “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan, but aside from Brolin returning it hasn’t been clear who else would be involved in the film.
Cut to today, and Variety reports that Sheridan has indeed written the script for an untitled third film in the franchise.
No other details are known at this time, other than Brolin returning as Matt Graver – a CIA SAC officer who works as part of a covert task force to combat Mexican drug cartels along the Mexico-United States border.
As previously reported, Sheridan is also penning the script for the upcoming “Call of Duty” movie which Peter Berg is set to direct.
