With so much attention paid on the likes of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” “Black Panther” and the various awards fare movies over the past two months, one other film managed to quietly become a minor hit.
“Insidious: The Last Key,” the fourth installment in the supernatural horror franchise, has reportedly now passed the $161.9 million global box-office take of the second film – turning it into the highest grossing movie of the franchise.
Bloody Disgusting is now reporting that a fifth film will happen and their sources say this one is ‘unlikely’ to be another prequel in the vein of the last two chapters. It’s not clear if series scribe Leigh Whannell will return to write the next installment and/or if Lin Shaye will reprise her role of Elise Rainier from the previous movies.
Producer Jason Blum has previously confirmed an “Insidious” and “Sinister” franchise crossover has been considered in the past.
