“Legend of Zelda” Set Videos Appear Online

Sony Pictures began filming a live-action “The Legend of Zelda” film in Wellington, New Zealand, earlier this month. The shoot is expected to run for six months through to April next year.

Now, it appears two videos from the set have been posted by fans online, with some locals keeping a distance and briefly filming a location shoot in a forest. I can’t link the footage here, but a quick search for ‘Zelda’ on various social media platforms will instantly bring it up.

The footage doesn’t show any sets, but does appear to show off blurry glimpses of the costumes of the two main characters – Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda with very “Breath of the Wild”-style costumes.

In addition, the footage features another character, appearing to reveal what looks like none other than Australian actress Dichen Lachman (“Severance,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Jurassic World Dominion”), with speculation being that she’s playing Impa. Lachman has not been confirmed for the film at this point.

The origin of the footage appears to be a single long clip that has been divided in half, with the first half seemingly originating from a legitimate photographer’s Instagram account and the second from his videographer co-worker’s Instagram account.

At one point, the blue-eyed and blond-haired videographer is caught on camera and social media is already thirsting like crazy over the man and debating how he looks more like Link than the Link actor.

Derek Connolly and T. S. Nowlin are penning the script for the film which Wes Ball is directing and which will be released in cinemas on May 7th 2027.
