Netflix has released a Japanese trailer for its live-action “One Piece” series based on the famed manga and anime by Eiichiro Oda.
The trailer showcases the live-action actors but dubbed with the voices of the long-running anime’s original cast, including Mayumi Tanaka as Luffy, Kazuya Nakai as Roronoa Zoro, Akemi Okamura as Nami, Kappei Yamaguchi as Usopp, and Hiroaki Hirata as Sanji.
Previously a video was released showing the new series’ lead star Iñaki Godoy personally meeting Tanaka in Japan and saw the famed voice actress formally giving her blessing to Godoy.
The new series follows Monkey D. Luffy and his crew of pirates who venture around a fantastical world of exotic islands and vast oceans in search of the legendary treasure known as ‘One Piece’.
The series also stars Mackenyu as Rorona Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji, Peter Gadiot as Shanks and Morgan Davies as Koby.
The live-action series is written and executive produced by Steven Maeda and Matt Owens. The eight-episode adventure series will be available for streaming on August 31st on Netflix.
