Majors, Spike Lee Circle “Da Understudy”

HBO

Currently starring as the antagonist in both films at the top of the box-office this weekend, Jonathan Majors has now been set to both star in and produce “Da Understudy” at Westbrook Studios and Amazon Studios.

The film is said to tell the “story of life imitating art when the understudy of a Broadway production finds a role he’s willing to kill for”.

The one and only Spike Lee is reportedly circling to direct the project which would reunite the pair who previously worked together on “Da 5 Bloods”.

Tom Hanada, Zach Strauss and Tyler Cole wrote the script based on an original story by Cole. Majors would produce through his Tall Street Productions label.

Majors can currently be seen in MGM’s “Creed III” and Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quatumania” with the actor scoring rave reviews for his work in both. The former managed to snag the largest-ever opening for a sports film this past weekend.

Majors will be seen later this year in “Magazine Dreams” as an aspiring but emotionally troubled amateur bodybuilder. The Sundance title was acquired by Searchlight with plans for an awards season release. He’ll next film an adaptation of the Walter Mosley novel “The Man in My Basement”.
