Amazon Studios has just acquired the new coming-of-age comedy series “I’m a Virgo” – a series that hails as the next effort from “Sorry to Bother You” breakout helmer Boots Riley.
Created, written and directed by Riley over its thirteen episode entirety, the story centers on a 13-foot-tall Black man (Jharrel Jerome) living in Oakland. Like ‘Bother,’ it will sport an absurdist comedic tone.
Riley says in a statement: “I’m thrilled to be working with Amazon on this project. This show will either have me lauded or banned, and as such, I have demanded payment up front.”
Riley, Jerome, Michael Ellenberg and Tze Chun will executive produce.
