With the cancellation of “Iron Fist the other week, no real chance of more “The Defenders,” and the looming Disney direct-to-consumer streaming service debuting next year – you could be forgiven for thinking that the days of the various Marvel-Netflix shows are numbered.
Certainly there’s been renewed speculation that “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” “Luke Cage” and “The Punisher” will eventually be pushed to Disney’s streaming platform. However, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos tells Inverse this week that fans shouldn’t worry – those shows aren’t going anywhere: “Those shows are for us to cancel and we’re super happy with their performance so far.”
Even as Disney and Netflix’s original deal lapses, Netflix seems adamant to continue running its Marvel shows for the foreseeable future. What it means for the fate of Finn Jones’ Danny Rand from “Iron Fist” isn’t clear at this point. “Daredevil” launches its third season this week with a second season of “The Punisher” and a third of “Jessica Jones” scheduled to be the next launches.
