Netflix’s well-received Ted Danson-led series “A Man on the Inside” will conclude with its upcoming third season.
The streamer announced that Mike Schur’s warm-hearted comedy series has just started production this week on its third and final season which, for the first time, will be primarily shot in San Francisco.
Schur says in a statement: “We are thrilled to be able to conclude his journey with one final chapter, as embodied by the great Ted Danson, who I am legally required to refer to as a ‘National Treasure.’”
It’s believed Schur and Netflix agreed when a third season renewal was handed out that this would be the last, but the ending is only officially being announced today.
Returning alongside Danson as Charles Nieuwendyk are regulars Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Lilah Richcreek Estrada, Stephanie Beatriz and Mary Steenburgen, along with recurring players Sally Struthers, Eugene Cordero and Stephen McKinley Henderson.
Joining them for the final outing will be an all-star comedy cast including Nick Offerman, Bernadette Peters, Christopher McDonald, Annette O’Toole, Diedrich Bader, Rachel Dratch, Stephen Root and Jessica St. Clair.
The third season sees Danson newly minted PI Charles hired by Coco Van Beck (Peters), the Grand Dame of San Francisco society, to find whoever is trying to sabotage her philanthropic work.
Offerman plays one of Coco’s employees who takes a special interest in Charles’ investigation, O’Toole plays one of Coco’s oldest friends Kitt, McDonald plays Coco’s third ex-husband, Dratch plays Coco’s harried assistant, Bader plays a powerful real estate developer, Root plays Charles’ estranged brother, and St. Clair plays a friend of Emily (Ellis) who helps her navigate a new phase in parenthood.
The first season was a hit in 2024, but the second saw a drop of 55% in its audience. Critical reviews for the second season also slipped.
