Hot off the success of last year’s “The Order” and the recent Amazon mini-series “Narrow Road to the Deep North” starring Jacob Elordi, Australian filmmaker Justin Kurzel (“Snowtown,” “Nitram,” “Macbeth”) has set his next project – “Cash Burn” at Netflix and Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps Productions.
Based on Michael Berrier’s novel, the financial thriller follows Jason Dunn – a high-powered executive on the verge of losing everything when a new lover draws him into a high-stakes embezzlement scheme.
The tension escalates further with the sudden reappearance of Jason’s estranged brother, recently released from prison, forcing long-buried family conflicts into the open. Casting is currently in progress ahead of filming which aims to get underway in Spring 2026.
Kurzel began production in Australia this week on his immediate next film – an adaptation of the true story book “Burning Rainbow Farm” about two marijuana advocates who had a five-day standoff with the FBI, which resulted in both of their deaths.
Lenny Abrahamson (“Room”) was originally slated to direct but Kurzel has now taken over the movie which will star Sebastian Stan.
