CD Projekt Red’s just-released remastered version of their 2015 title “The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt” has set a new record.
The free major update to the game has landed a 94/100 on Metacritic, the best score of the year for any game (with at least a dozen reviews counted). It’s also above the 92 that the standard version of “The Witcher 3″ scored over a decade ago.
The other major top-reviewed titles for 2026 so far are indie”Big Walk” at 91, “Forza Horizon 6” and “Well Dweller” at 90, “Resident Evil Requiem” and “Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave” at 89, “Mewgenics” at 88, and “007: First Light” and “Saros” at 87.
The remaster includes sweeping visual upgrades, both previous expansions, and more quality-of-life fixes, including enhanced combat, enhanced traversal, a revamped in-game skill tree, and new SFX.
Also confirmed: The PS5 Pro version runs ray tracing mode at 60fps and performance mode at up to 90fps vs. the base PS5 with 30fps ray tracing and 60fps performance. The Switch 2 version includes touch screen support.
“The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt – Remastered” is now freely available to existing “The Witcher 3” owners. For those not owners, it retails at $50 but is currently on a 50% sale price of $25 in places for its launch window.
