“Prey” and “Predator: Badlands” director Dan Trachtenberg is leaving those aliens behind for a quite different project.
Moving from Disney-owned 20th Century Studios to Disney itself, Trachtenberg will team with the Mouse House on an “original idea inspired by the classic Disney tale Sleeping Beauty”.
Currently untitled, the project is in early development and is said to “take the story in an entirely new direction with Trachtenberg’s distinct sensibility”.
One thing that has been made clear is that this will have no connection to the previous Disney live-action take on “Sleeping Beauty” – namely the “Maleficent” films starring Angelina Jolie.
Trachtenberg and Rayna McClendon reportedly came up with the new story, with Alex Anfanger and Dan Schimpf penning the script.
Trachtenberg and Ben Rosenblatt will produce alongside “Star Wars” producer Michelle Rejwan. The project will come after his current work, a top-secret movie over at Paramount Pictures, which is currently in pre-production.
