Sony Pictures is reportedly planning a re-release of the still-in-cinemas “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”. The release will incorporate new scenes, including one with Rosario Dawson’s nurse character Claire Temple.
Dawson played the role in various seasons of Marvel’s Netflix series, like “Daredevil” and “Luke Cage,” and previously revealed that she shot a scene for the film that was cut.
Deadline broke the news, saying the extra footage is “not limited to” just that scene and there will be “more surprises in the extra footage”.
The news follows in the wake of Disney’s “Avengers Endgame: Encore” re-release scoring $86 million over the weekend. The reissue, a marketing push for December’s “Avengers: Doomsday,” ultimately contained three new short scenes.
The film is still playing in cinemas and hit $950.7 million domestically and $2.495 billion worldwide as of the end of yesterday. That’s the top-grossing film of all time domestically and the third-highest internationally.
The big question: when? The trade indicates there’s “no word yet as to when the re-release will happen”. The previous film, “Spider–Man: No Way Home,” did a late Summer re-release for the Labor Day weekend in 2022 following the film’s then record-breaking run from December 2021 into early 2022.
