One of Tom Holland’s favourite “Spider-Man” comic book storylines, The Clone Saga, is being turned into a TV series for Prime Video.
The streaming giant is reportedly nearing a series order for a new “Spider-Man” TV series loosely based on the comic run, with Kelvin Yu (“American Born Chinese”) set to write it.
According to Deadline, the comic followed Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker, clones of Peter Parker, with Ben ultimately taking on the superhero identity of the Scarlet Spider.
The trade warns that the series may make “significant changes” to the story in the comic books. The storyline for the series isn’t clear as some reports claim its a clone origin story, while others saying they discover they are clones and face off with more clones.
The news comes just under a month after Prime Video cancelled “Spider-Noir,” starring Nicolas Cage. At the time it was said Amazon and Sony were working on further event series set within the Spider-Man world.
The new series is currently untitled and is expected to get a linear debut on Amazon’s MGM+ in addition to its streaming release on Prime Video, just like “Spider-Noir”.
