Five Nights at Freddy’s 3
Actor Matthew Lillard has confirmed that a third “Five Nights at Freddy’s” movie is aiming to shoot next year while out promoting the new “Carrie” series for Amazon. it’s unknown if stars Josh Hutcherson, Piper Rubio, and Elizabeth Lail will return.
Lillard tells Bloody Disgusting: “I know the early version of the script came through, and everyone’s really excited about it, and I know they’re moving to the next level, so we will be shooting in 2027.” That likely means an early 2028 release.
Days of Thunder 2
A new report claims that Paramount and Tom Cruise aggressively pursued “Deadpool vs. Wolverine” director Shawn Levy for the “Days of Thunder” sequel, but Lavy elected to work with Ryan Gosling again on “Ghost Rider” for Marvel. Ultimately Jonathan Levine (“Warm Bodies,” “Long Shot”) has been set as director. [Source: Puck News]
Carrie
Mike Flanagan was asked how many seasons he would make if he could choose his ideal length for the upcoming “Carrie” series at Amazon Prime Video. Flanagan explains: “In my dream scenario. I think it’s three seasons. In my dream scenario, I think Carrie has a wonderful three-step arc. It’s a trilogy, really.”
Flanagan has made no bones about the fact that he’s significantly changed up the source material for this take on the property with the eight-episode series set to debut on the service on October 7th. [Source: Collider]
Miami Vice: Director’s Final Cut
Michael Mann’s “Miami Vice: Director’s Final Cut,” which premieres this weekend at Beyond Fest, will hit 4K and Blu-ray on December 15th. The new cut clocks in at 132 minutes – a minute shorter than the theatrical version and seven shorter than his 2006 director’s cut.
The new cut includes scene-by-scene tweaks to picture and sound, changing the structure of the original cut with reordered scene and a heavily reworked final act built from unseen footage to reflect “Mann’s preferred ending.” [Source: Blu-ray.com]
Phony
Hulu has premiered the trailer for its coming-of-age mystery series “Phony” starring Sam Nivola and Connie Britton. The story follows Sonny Cook, a teenager whose close bond with his mother changes after a car accident.
The mystery begins when Sonny starts believing something is seriously wrong with the woman who returns home. Nick Paley created the half-hour series and serves as co-showrunner with Anthony King. Paley also wrote and directed the first episode. “Phony” premieres October 20th.
