An official U.S. copyright filing for Marvel Studios’ “Ironheart” series confirms “Borat” and “Talladega Nights” star Sacha Baron Cohen is joining the MCU.
Marvel Studios registered the series last month and confirms Cohen will appear in Ironheart as ‘Mystery Man’ which is thought to be a placeholder name for now.
Cohen has long been rumored to take on the role of Mephisto, the Stan Lee and John Buscema-created demonic villain and has been linked to the role for at least a year when a Deadline report indicated Cohen was “likely playing Mephisto”.
That led to some subsequently debunked rumors about another Marvel Studios one-off ‘Special Presentation’ (ala “Werewolf by Night”) centered on Mephisto.
Cohen has appeared in numerous dramas in recent years, including scoring an Oscar nomination for his supporting actor role in “The Trial of the Chicago 7”.
The “Ironheart” series stars Dominique Thorne as Riri William, a charming teenage super genius Riri Williams who returns to her hometown of Chicago in her iron suit and begins to unravel threads that bring danger and adventure right to her doorstep
The show also stars Anthony Ramos as Parker Robbins/The Hood, Alden Ehrenreich as Joe McGillicuddy, Lyric Ross as Natalie Washington, Matthew Elam as Xavier Washington, Anji White as Ronnie Williams, Manny Montana as Cousin John, and Shea Coulee as Slug.
It’s expected “Ironheart” will debut on Disney+ in September 2025.
