“Fallout” star Ella Purnell, acting veteran Jude Law, “Pluribus” breakout Samba Schutte, and “Dogman” star Caleb Landry Jones have all joined “Hereditary” and “Midsommar” filmmaker Ari Aster’s next project “Scapegoat” at A24.
Scarlett Johansson and Jacob Elordi lead the cast of the mysterious film whose plot details, and even genre, are under wraps. Some have called it a traditional drama, others a sci-fi romance.
One synopsis that floated around in June suggested Johansson will star as a surgeon tasked to operate on a Jake Paul-inspired character who dies during the surgery.
The story then follows the fallout of his death and the scrutiny the surgeon will face from the main antagonists, the character’s wife and brother.
Aster penned the script and will direct and produce alongside Lars Knudsen. It marks Aster’s fifth film with A24 following the aforementioned two plus “Beau is Afraid” and “Eddington”.
He and Knudsen also recently produced “Dream Scenario,” “Bugonia” and “The Drama”. Purnell has been incredibly busy in recent years with roles in shows like “Fallout,” “Sweetpea” and “Yellowjackets” along with voice roles in “Arcane” and “Star Trek: Prodigy”.
