Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Endgame” re-release – going by the name “Avengers Endgame: Encore” – is doing big business.
The title reportedly pulled in $3.8 million in Thursday previews, with projections now indicating the re-release will pull in around $25 million domestically and another $25 million to $30 million from overseas markets this weekend.
While that may be a small fraction of the record-setting $1.2 billion opening weekend the film had in 2019, it’s remarkable numbers for a re-release.
There’s a lot debuting this weekend, starting with the Robert Pattinson-led “Primetime” which snagged $2.7 million in Thursday previews ahead of a likely opening weekend of $12-16 million – above projections earlier this week.
David Ayer’s Brad Pitt & dog survival thriller “Heart of the Beast” debuted to $2 million in previews, with Paramount Pictures expecting a $17-20 million opening weekend for the title.
Finally, DreamWorks Animation’s “Forgotten Island” snagged $1.48 million from previews and is expected to debut in the $13-18 million range.
Zach Cregger’s “Resident Evil” will have its second weekend and, considering its positive word of mouth, is expected to have a solid hold.
