The Boys
Amazon Prime has announced “Gen V” as the title of the upcoming “The Boys” spin-off series set at America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes.
The series is currently in production with cast members such as Jaz Sinclair, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Chance Perdomo appearing in a brief video introducing themselves. Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters serve as showrunners and executive producers. [Source: Twitter]
The Lake
Amazon Prime has renewed its comedy series “The Lake” for a second season a month after the first premiered. The series is based on the life of Julian Doucet who also writes and executive produces.
The story follows Justin (Jordan Gavaris), a recently dumped father who wants to reconnect with daughter Billie (Madison Shamoun) whom he gave up for adoption in his teens and goes on a lake trip with her. [Source: Collider]
Demascus
Martin Lawrence is set for a key recurring role in the half-hour six-episode comedic sci-fi series “Demascus” from playwright Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm and AMC Studios.
The story follows a 33-year-old Black man who goes on a journey of self-discovery using an innovative new technology that allows him to experience different versions of his own life. Lawrence will play his irascible Uncle Forty. [Source: Deadline]
A Man In Full
Diane Lane has been cast opposite Jeff Daniels in the Netflix limited series “A Man in Full” based on the Tom Wolfe novel of the same name. The project hails from David E. Kelley with Regina King onboard to direct and executive produce.
In the series, Atlanta real estate mogul Charlie Croker (Daniels) faces sudden bankruptcy. Political and business interests collide as Croker defends his empire from those attempting to capitalize on his fall from grace. Lane will play Charlie’s ex-wife Martha. [Source: Variety]
DOTA
Netflix has premiered the trailer for “DOTA: Dragon’s Blood: Book 3,” the new run of the popular anime fantasy series with an epic showdown on the way between Terroblade (voiced by JB Blanc) and Davion (voiced by Yuri Lowenthal). The new run will premiere on Netflix with an entire season on August 11th.
Syfy
Syfy has announced premiere dates for two series with both set to arrive on October 5th. First comes the second season of “Chucky” with cast members like Jennifer Tilly, Fiona and Brad Dourif, Zackary Arthur, Christine Elise and Devon Sawa all returning.
There’s also the Jacob Batalon-led “Reginald the Vampire”. The story is set in a world where vampires are living their undead lives out and about and one doesn’t quite fit in with his own kind.
