Emmy-winning filmmaker Lisa Cholodenko (“Olive Kitteridge,” “The Kids Are All Right”) has been hired to direct the first two episodes of the true-crime drama “The Girl from Plainville” at Hulu.

Based on Jesse Baron’s Esquire article, this follows the real-life story of a young Massachusetts woman convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2017 in a ‘texting suicide case.

The series will chronicle the relationship between her and her then boyfriend as well as the events that led to his death and her controversial conviction. Production is expected to begin later this year with Liz Hannah (“The Post”) and Patrick Macmanus (“Dr. Death”) to serve as co-showrunners.
