Remedy Entertainment’s “Control: Resonant” hits stores this coming week and ahead of that, review scores are now out and paint a very good picture.
The follow-up to 2019’s “Control” has taken in a Metacritic score of 84 on PS5 from 63 reviews and 83 on PC from 34 reviews. That puts it on par with the original game, which was an 82 on PS4 and 85 on PC.
That number does mean the title could be a contender for Game of the Year, though other titles like “Resident Evil Requiem” (89), “Pokemon Pokopia” (89), “007: First Light” (87), “Saros” (87), “Mixtape” (86), “Onimusha: Way of the Sword” (85), “Star Wars: Zero Company” (85), and “Pragmata” (85) all scored a tad higher.
Interestingly, the Metacritic scores have sparked a debate about review scores in general. In this case, the title has only one negative review (2/5), and it’s not from a gaming site – rather, a comic book news site. Questions have arisen about how that single review may have affected the game’s overall score.
With its much more expanded runtime, some have praised it highly; others are more mixed, such as Polygon. Their reviewer called it a “perfectly serviceable game”. Push Square meanwhile says “It’s endlessly stylish and playful; it looks gorgeous” and that it’s “impeccably confident and tantalising”.
Read the reviews over at Metacritic. “Control: Resonant” releases everywhere on September 24th.
