Coming off the success of his Netflix feature “Rebel Ridge,” which helped Aaron Pierre secure his “Lanterns” role, “Green Room” filmmaker Jeremy Saulnier returns with the first promotional clip from his next feature “Slayground”.
A24 is releasing the title after acquiring it a little over a year ago in a fierce bidding war that saw the likes of Netflix trying to snag it.
At the time, the project was dubbed a “gritty, high-stakes chase story reminiscent of ‘The Fugitive'” and a Halloween-set horror action thriller film.
The latter seems to fit from the footage in the clip, which teases a slasher film with an armoured spree killer. His design looks like someone from the “Mad Max” universe trying to cosplay as Shredder from the “Ninja Turtles”.
The clip, and the tie-in website runlikehell.com, tease the killer hitting a packed rave or underground club where people can’t escape. Much, but not all, of the footage seems to come from CCTV feeds.
