Almost a full year after it was pulled from airing just three days before it was set to launch, the Jessica Chastain-led Apple TV series “The Savant” has finally locked down a release window.
Apple TV has reportedly set a Spring 2027 release window for the title and while a date is still being finalised, the aim is to get it out before the end of May so as to be eligible for the 2027 Emmys.
Chastain leads the show as a top-secret undercover investigator, nicknamed ‘The Savant,’ who infiltrates online hate groups and takes them down from the inside – stopping domestic extremists before they can act.
The show, which has been in the works for over two years, also stars Nnamdi Asomugha, James Badge Dale, Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley, Toussaint Francois Battiste and Pablo Schreiber.
The delay last year was seen as a reaction to the assassination of conservative pundit Charlie Kirk two weeks prior with some of the show’s imagery, including sniper attacks, considered potentially triggering.
The project hails from writer/executive producer/showrunner Melissa James Gibson, Fifth Season and Anonymous Content. Chastain and Kelly Carmichael executive produce alongside Alan Poul, Melissa James Gibson, David Levine, Garrett Kemble, and Matthew Heineman.
