Cress Williams Is DC’s “Black Lighting”

Veteran TV actor Cress Williams has been cast as the lead role in The CW’s fifth DC superhero series on the air – “Black Lightning”. Williams will play Jefferson Pierce, a teacher who hung up his suit and secret identity years ago.

Now, with one daughter hell-bent on justice and another a star student being recruited by a local gang, he will be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante Black Lightning.

Williams has served in regular or recurring roles on numerous hit shows including “Prison Break,” “Friday Night Lights,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “E.R.,” “Hart of Dixie,” “Providence,” “Nash Bridges,” “Veronica Mars,” “Living Single” and currently works on “Code Black”.

Salim and Mara Brock Akil will write and executive produce the project with Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. Akil Productions and Berlanti Productions will produce in association with Warner Bros. TV.
