“Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Jumanji” director Joe Johnston is set to revisit one of his classic family films – 1989’s “Honey I Shrunk the Kids”.
Johnston is reportedly in talks to helm the forthcoming reboot for Disney+ with “Frozen” star Josh Gad as the son of Rick Moranis’ character Wayne Szalinski.
Set thirty years on, Nick Szalinski repeats the problems of his father’s past and accidentally shrinks his kids and must find a way to fix the problem.
The original film held the record for the highest-grossing live-action Disney film ever for five years and made over $222 million at the global box office at the time.
Despite being developed for the streaming service, it’s expected this will get a theatrical release as well.
