It’s not clear what is going on with “Fast Forever,” the eleventh and seemingly final instalment of the “Fast and Furious” franchise.
Delays, timetable confusion, budgetary issues and mixed PR messaging have people wondering what’s going on and when filming will actually begin. The film’s star, Vin Diesel, previously said a script draft he read had brought him to tears.
Now, a new report from The Insneider (via WoR) has made some big new claims. First up, he indicates the final film has no finished script and never had one, while the studio is reportedly looking for a new director.
That would suggest “Fast X” helmer Louis Leterrier isn’t returning, and Leterrier himself indicated earlier this year he had not seen a script as yet.
The report also says the director’s chair isn’t the only place the franchise is getting some new blood, with the claim that the film will see Diesel’s Dominic Toretto handing things off to a younger crew.
One of the names that allegedly keeps coming up as a possible cast addition is former “Riverdale” alum turned “Beef” and “May December” actor Charles Melton. There are also indications that filming won’t begin until early 2028 – meaning it won’t be meeting its current March 2028 release date.
