A first look has been released by The BBC for a new “Doctor Who” animated series targeting pre-school children.
The series, titled “Doctor Who: TARDIS Crew” and created by Blue Zoo Animation Studio, follows a young Time Lord known as The Doctor and his friends Hannah, Beastie and Toast-IE as they embark on adventures through time & space.
Travelling aboard the iconic TARDIS, they encounter incredible creatures, discover amazing new worlds and come face-to-face with legendary Doctor Who foes, including the Daleks.
The aim is to introduce younger audiences – specifically CBeebies viewers – to the “wonder, adventure and endless possibilities of the Whoniverse” with “action-packed, preschool-friendly stories” encouraging young viewers to explore new ideas, solve problems, embrace the unexpected and rely on friendship, teamwork and quick thinking.
Around 52 episodes, clocking in at 11 minutes each, are being created with the series to arrive on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer in late 2027/early 2028. Production is currently underway with Dominic Minns serving as Series Director.
