Oscar winner Eva Marie Saint, who won that award for a supporting role in her very first motion picture “On the Waterfront,” has died. She was 102.

Saint passed away from natural causes at her home in Los Angeles.

The actress was also very well known for her role in the Alfred Hitchcock classic thriller “North by Northwest”.

Along the way, she had multiple memorable roles in films throughout the 1950s and 1960s including “That Certain Feeling,” “A Hatful of Rain,” “Raintree Country,” “Grand Prix,” “36 Hours,” “All Fall Down,” “The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming,” “Loving” and “The Stalking Moon”.

Roles became thin as she got older with mostly telemovies and guest spots, including playing the mother of Cybill Shepherd’s character on the hit 1980s ABC series “Moonlighting”. She won an Emmy award for the 1990 mini-series “People Like Us”.

There was the odd film though, such as the Tom Hanks-led comedy “Nothing in Common” and playing Martha Kent in 2006’s “Superman Returns”.

Her final onscreen role was in “Winter’s Tale” as the sister of an immortal Colin Farrell.
