Jackson Skips “Doomsday,” Set For “Secret Wars”

Actor Samuel L. Jackson has revealed when his Nick Fury character will come into play in the next two “Avengers” films.

Speaking on the red carpet for “The Beast,” the actor straight up tells The Direct that he’s sitting out “Avengers: Doomsday” with his character not involved in it. He then confirms he will participate in “Avengers: Secret Wars”.

When the interviewer said: “I love your work as Nick Fury. We haven’t seen you in a minute,” Jackson responded: “Next movie… [The] movie after this one.”

Then asked if he could tease anything about his role in it, he says: “I have no idea. [Marvel] hasn’t told me anything, other than, ‘You’re not gonna be in this movie. You’ll be in the next.”

Jackson’s confirmation debunks a previous report that indicated Nick Fury would return in “Avengers: Doomsday”. It has also led to questions over Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel who also isn’t confirmed to appear in “Avengers: Doomsday” and may be one of several actors sitting out that entry before returning for ‘Secret Wars’.

Meanwhile a listing on the British Stunt Register (via CBM) indicates that “Project Hail Mary” and “Digger” star Sandra Hüller will appear in the film along with Katya Hazel Boirand (“Citadel”) and Josie Pocock (“The Running Man”).

“Avengers: Doomsday” opens in cinemas on December 18th.
