Robert Pattinson has reportedly been cast as Bruce Wayne/The Batman in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” film at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Reeves helmed the last two “Planet of the Apes” sequels and assumed directing duties on the project two years ago. The hunt for someone to take on the role, following Ben Affleck’s confirmed departure, encompassed the likes of Jack O’Connell and Kit Harington who will take on a younger version of the character
Former “Twilight” actor Pattinson has made a name for himself as an excellent actor on the art house scene in great films like “Good Time” and “The Lost City of Z”.
32-year-old Pattinson was cast even as Reeves is still polishing a final version of the script, and is the second youngest actor to date to take on the role (Bale was 31). He’s currently readying to shoot “The Dark Knight” director Christopher Nolan’s new event movie opening July 2020.
Reeves and Dylan Clark will produce. Pre-production is expected to start this summer ahead of filming either late this year or early next year for a June 25th 2021 release.
