“Karate Kid: Legends” and “American Born Chinese” star Ben Wang has entered talks to play Iceman/Bobby Drake in the “X-Men” film at Marvel Studios.

Deadline reports that Wang beat out several actors who tested for the part including Gabriel LaBelle, Jackson Kelly and Rhenzy Feliz.

Iceman, a founding member of the X-Men, is known for the mutant power of cryokinesis – the ability to generate and control ice and cold.

The cast currently includes Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Adam Driver as Mr. Sinister, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, Asa Germann as Angel and Sadie Sink as Jean Grey.

A recent rumor has also suggested that “The Gilded Age” star Morgan Spector could be up for Magneto in the film.

Jake Schreier is directing from a script by Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo. The film opens in cinemas May 5th 2028.

Wang appears in the upcoming “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” as District 12 tribute Wyatt Callow.
