Multiple companies, including Ubisoft, have reportedly made offers to Microsoft to acquire “Dishonored” and “Deathloop” developers Arkane Studios reports Bloomberg.
In June came the news that Microsoft’s cost-cutting measures could see the France-based developer closed, and with that the scrapping of the previously teased “Marvel’s Blade” game which was rumored to be targeting a late 2027 release.
Two weeks ago came news Microsoft was actively attempting to secure a buyer or partner for the developer ahead of a French legal deadline in early December.
Ubisoft Entertainment SA is the only one identified by name so far, but at least two more are circling and have made offers. Xbox has also reportedly weighed selling the studio to its management.
Terms of the offers weren’t available, and Xbox has not yet come to an agreement with any potential buyer. If a deal does take place though, it’s expected to allow Arkane to complete its work on “Marvel’s Blade”.
“Blade” focuses on Eric Brooks, a legendary Daywalker who is half-man, half-vampire; and has been described as a “mature, single-player, third-person game set in the heart of Paris.”
