Paramount Pictures has set a July 16th 2027 release date for its Alexandre Aja-directed sequel to 2019’s alligator creature feature “Crawl,” the title set to arrive a week after James Gunn’s “Superman” sequel “Man of Tomorrow” hits cinemas.
The original starred Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper as a daughter and father caught in a Category 5 hurricane in the father’s Florida home. They become trapped in a basement overrun by giant man-eating alligators.
Aja directed that first film, which became a critical and commercial success, pulling in $91 million worldwide from a $14 million budget. Filming began last month in Hungary.
The sequel brings the action to New York where gators arise in the streets and sewers after a hurricane hits the city.
Aja, Jason Harry Pagan, Andrew Deutschman and Gregory Levasseur all worked on the script. Craig Flores, Sam Raimi and Aja are producing.
Also today, Paramount has also moved up “Heart Eyes 2” by a week to February 4th 2028.
