Octavia Spencer (“The Help”) is in early negotiations to join the cast of Diablo Cody’s untitled project at Mandate Pictures says Variety.
The story centers on a sheltered young woman (Julianne Hough) who loses her faith after a plane crash and goes to Las Vegas, where she meets an unlikely companion (Russell Brand).
Spencer would play card dealer at a casino on the strip where Brand works. Cody makes her directorial debut from her own script.
