Summit Entertainment has acquired Veronica Roth’s upcoming young adult novel “Divergent” reports Deadline
Set in a future Chicago which has become a dystopian society divided into five factions with each pursuing a different virtue – honesty, selflessness, braveness, peace and intelligence.
Once a year, sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. It’s then a teenage boy and girl set out to rebel against the system and discover a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society.
Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher will produce, though no writer has yet been locked.
