Soderbergh To Finish “The Batman Part II” Filming

Warner Bros. Pictures

Filmmaker Steven Soderbergh is coming on board “The Batman Part II” to help filmmaker Matt Reeves complete the film.

The other week, the news came that production was paused on the film in the UK so that Reeves could focus on a personal matter related to his family. Shooting had begun in June in the UK and is said to be at around the two-thirds mark. No indication was made at the time as to when filming would resume.

Speculation began to mount that the project could be scrapped, but DC Studios co-chief Peter Safran shot down that claim at the “Clayface” premiere with a straight “no”.

Now, Deadline reports Soderbergh will help finish principal photography for the final weeks of production. Although Reeves is unable to be on set in London, the two will reportedly work together and remain in communication until filming has ended.

Reeves will then take over post-production duties when he is ready to return. The studio released the following statement:

“As Matt Reeves continues to attend to an ongoing family matter, Steven Soderbergh, as an admirer of Matt’s work, approached Matt and will step in, with the full support of DC Studios, to help the writer-director complete the final weeks of principal photography on The Batman Part 2. Matt and Steven will work closely together with the actors and crew to fulfil Matt’s vision of the film.”

Soderbergh released his own statement, saying:

“I thought Matt Reeves’ work on The Batman was stunning; it was intentional, specific, and rigorously coherent. The goal here is to work with Matt and his team to generate footage that will integrate seamlessly with what’s already been shot so Matt can properly finish his film.”

Robert Pattinson, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Brian Tyree Henry, Jayme Lawson, Charles Dance, Gil Perez-Abraham and Sebastian Koch star.

The film currently remains on track for a February 18th 2028 release.
