“Straight Outta Compton” writer Jonathan Herman has been hired to pen a rewrite of the “Scarface” remake which Universal Pictures is moving forward with.
Paul Attanasio and David Ayer penned the previous drafts of the film which is described as a new and original take on the story that resulted in two previous film classics – the 1932 Chicago-set one and the 1983 Miami-set one.
The new one will be set in present day Los Angeles and explore an immigrant’s rise in the criminal underworld. Pablo Larrain will direct.
