StudioCanal, Fathom Entertainment and Rialto Pictures have set a 35th anniversary 4K 3D re-release of James Cameron’s “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” with an international rollout commencing next month.
The rollout begins in Germany, Latin America and the Czech Republic on August 27th followed by a U.S., Italy and Poland release on August 28th. It then hits France on September 2nd; Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Sweden, Hungary on September 3rd, and the UK on September 4th.
The re-release is coming to cinemas in 4K, RealD 3D and premium formats with StudioCanal handling global distribution. Their 2017 restoration and 3D conversion is the print being used. Cameron says in a statement:
“T2 was made for theaters, and our lovingly-prepared 3D version, coming back to the big screen, is the absolute best way to see the film. I believe it’s safe to do spoilers after 35 years, so SPOILER ALERT: the good guys win against the AI superintelligence! And maybe that’s a message of hope we all could use this summer.”
The original film, a sequel to Cameron’s 1984 “The Terminator” original, remains the highest-grossing instalment in the franchise with over $517 million worldwide.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong, and Robert Patrick star in the film which won four Oscars and earned a rare A+ CinemaScore.
