“Ladybug & Cat Noir” Live-Action Series Set

Disney XD, Miraculous Corp

“Slow Horses” and “Heartstopper” producer See-Saw Films are teaming with Miraculous Corp for a live-action TV series based on the blockbuster animated superhero series “Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir”.

The new series aims to reach a “broad and older audience” while also catering to the show’s ever increasing fanbase.

The original Paris-set series debuted in 2015 and follows Marinette, a young woman who is hardworking, kind and endearingly flawed, but convinced she must be perfect to be loved.

Meanwhile, Adrien is charming, effortless, and has never once been allowed to choose his own life. By day they are classmates, circling each other with an electric chemistry neither can quite name.

By night, as Ladybug and Cat Noir, they fight side by side – fearless, free, completely indispensable to each other. They are, of course, the same two people. They just don’t know it yet.

Maria Nicholson, executive producer at See-Saw, says:

“Miraculous has always been, at its heart, a story about the distance between who we are and who we let people see. Live action gives us the space to really feel that — to let it breathe, to let it hurt. At See-Saw we’re aiming to build something with the emotional intimacy of a great romance and the scale of a genuinely epic superhero story. I think audiences are going to fall in love with these characters all over again.”

Emme Hoy (“Sweetpea,” “Honey”) will serve as writer and co-executive producer. Nicholson, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Simon Gillis and Ben Irving also executive produce.

Thomas Astruc, Jeremy Zag and Nathanaël Bronn created the show. The cartoon incarnation is currently in its sixth season with a seventh launching later this year. The YouTube channel has 54 million subscribers, more than 55 billion lifetime views and an average of 900 million monthly views. A live stage show is set to launch worldwide in 2027.

The “Miraculous” franchise itself has become a global digital powerhouse, with 54 million YouTube subscribers, more than 55 billion lifetime views and an average of 900 million monthly views. Its reach also extends across consumer products, gaming, promotions and live experiences. A spin-off movie was released in 2023, while there has also been a stage musical and manga adaptation. Earlier this year, it was announced that “Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir” was getting a new live stage show, set to launch worldwide in 2027.
