Sony has officially announced its new PS5 slimmer re-design which will be available starting this November in the U.S. at select local retailers.
The new form factor contains the same processing power levels as the current PS5 but has been reduced in volume by more than 30% and in weight by 18% and 24% compared to the previous models.
Boasting 1TB storage, the new model provides the option to buy a PS5 Digital Edition and then add an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive separately at a later date. The drive’s standalone price will be $79.99 USD.
Once inventory of the old PS5 model has sold out, the new PS5 will become the only model available. In the U.S. with a drive it will cost $499.99, without its $449.99.
A horizontal stand will be included with the new PS5 model. A new Vertical Stand compatible with all PS5 models will be sold separately at $29.99 USD.
A variety of color covers for the new model will be available starting in early 2024 including matte black, red, blue, silver and more.
