TrustNordisk has unveiled the international trailer for the historical epic drama “The Promised Land” which marks a re-teaming of “A Royal Affair” director Nikolaj Arcel and star Mads Mikkelsen.
The true story tale stars Mikkelsen as an impoverished captain, Ludvig Kahlen, who set sout to conquer the harsh, uninhabitable Danish heath with a seemingly impossible goal – to build a colony in the name of the King.
Kahlen is a proud and uncompromising man, and the story follows him and the woman who becomes his ally in the fight against evil, death and perdition.
Also starring are Amanda Collin (“Raised by Wolves”), Magnus Krepper (“Queen of Hearts”), Simon Bennebjerg (“Borgen”), Gustav Lindh (“The Northman”), Kristine Kujath Thorp (“Ninjababy”), Morten Hee Andersen (“Margrete: Queen of the North”), Jacob Lohmann (“Riders Of Justice”) and Felix Kramer (“Dark”).
Arcel teamed with acclaimed Danish screenwriter and director Anders Thomas Jensen (“Riders of Justice”) to pen the script based on the 2020 novel “Kaptajnen og Ann Barbara”. Louise Vesth produces.
The film is slated to world premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival and will be released in Denmark on October 5th. Magnolia Pictures has picked up the film for U.S. distribution.
