Cattrall Returns For “And Just Like That”

Warner Bros. Pictures

In a shock announcement, actress Kim Cattrall is set to reprise her iconic role as Samantha Jones in the second season finale of Max’s “Sex and the City” revival series “And Just Like That”.

According to Variety, she will only appear in one scene and shot her dialogue on March 22nd in New York City – without seeing or speaking with the stars of the series or showrunner Michael Patrick King.

Cattrall publicly announced in 2016 she was done playing Samantha and didn’t feel like the script for a proposed third film did justice to the character.

That decision to step away led to a public fallout with star Sarah Jessica Parker. When “And Just Like That” was announced, Cattrall wasn’t approached to reprise her role.

In press rounds last year, both Parker and King said they couldn’t fathom a scenario in which Cattrall would return to the role. However, HBO and Max content chairman Casey Bloys reportedly approached Cattrall about the possibility which led to her saying ‘yes’.

In the scene, Samantha is now living in London and will have a phone conversation with Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw. Famed costume designer Patricia Field dressed Samantha for the scene.

This is only expected to be a one-off, as Cattrall’s appearance as Samantha will not be a continuation of the character. The second season of “And Just Like That” premieres on June 22nd.
