Hulu has released the teaser trailer for the third season of its beloved series “Only Murders in the Building” which is currently in production.
Airing during the Oscars on Sunday night, the clip promises a “surprise you never saw coming” before cutting to a shocked Meryl Streep playing a rather frazzled actress.
The majority of the clip seems to be focused on a table reading of the play that we saw in the final moments of the second season with Paul Rudd, Steve Martin, Martin Short and other characters all rehearsing ahead of the play’s opening night when Rudd’s actor Ben Glenroy dies on stage.
The third season begins with our regular true crime-loving podcasters Charles, Oliver, and Mabel (Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez) reunites to figure out who killed Ben.
Streep’s casting announcement was made in January with the actress having a recurring role in the new run. Co-creators and writers Martin and John Hoffman are back Martin and Hoffman executive produce along with Short, Gomez, Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal.
It’s presently not clear when the third season will air. The two previous seasons filmed from December-April followed by airings in August. This began filming in January so it might still make it to air in August, though likely will come a month or two later.
