Following yesterday’s release of the poster, Disney Pictures has now premiered the official first trailer and another poster for the new live-action film adaptation of their famous “Haunted Mansion” ride.
In the mysterious adventure, a doctor (Rosario Dawson) and her 9-year-old son (Chase Dillon), looking to start a new life, move into a strangely affordable mansion in New Orleans, only to discover that the place is much more than they bargained for.
Desperate for help, they contact a priest (Owen Wilson), who, in turn, enlists the aid of a widowed scientist-turned failed-paranormal expert (LaKeith Stanfield), a French Quarter psychic (Tiffany Haddish) and a crotchety historian (Danny DeVito).
Also onboard are Jared Leto as the Hatbox Ghost, Jamie Lee Curtis as Madame Leota, along with Winona Ryder, Chase Dillon, Dan Levy and Hasan Minhaj.
The theme park attraction was previously adapted into the 2003 film starring Eddie Murphy as a workaholic realtor who, along with his family, gets trapped inside a ghost-ridden mansion.
“Dear White People” filmmaker Justin Simien helms the new take from a script by Katie Dippold. Simien says: “As a lifelong fan of the Haunted Mansion attraction, I’m beyond excited to share the teaser trailer for our new film adaptation featuring an incredible cast. Our team has worked tirelessly to create a scary, funny and cinematic otherworldly adventure for both new and die-hard fans to enjoy! I can’t wait for audiences to experience this big screen version of the iconic Disney attraction.”
Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich produce with the film set to arrive in cinemas on July 28th.
