Disney Pictures has premiered the official poster for the new live-action film adaptation of their famed “Haunted Mansion” ride. The poster shows a child in an extending and twisting hallway and comes ahead of the film’s teaser trailer debuting tomorrow.
In the mysterious adventure, a doctor (Rosario Dawson) and her 9-year-old son (Chase Dillon), looking to start a new life, move into a strangely affordable mansion in New Orleans, only to discover that the place is much more than they bargained for.
Desperate for help, they contact a priest (Owen Wilson), who, in turn, enlists the aid of a widowed scientist-turned failed-paranormal expert (LaKeith Stanfield), a French Quarter psychic (Tiffany Haddish) and a crotchety historian (Danny DeVito).
Also onboard are Jared Leto as the Hatbox Ghost, Jamie Lee Curtis as Madame Leota, along with Winona Ryder, Chase Dillon, Dan Levy and Hasan Minhaj. The theme park attraction was previously adapted into the 2003 film starring Eddie Murphy as a workaholic realtor who, along with his family, gets trapped inside a ghost-ridden mansion.
“Dear White People” filmmaker Justin Simien is set to direct the new take from a script by Katie Dippold. The film is being produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich and will arrive in cinemas on July 28th – the release date recently moved in the wake of the several-month delay of “The Marvels”.
