Netflix Orders De Niro-Led “Zero Day” Series

HBO

Netflix has officially handed out a series order to the six-episode conspiracy thriller “Zero Day” which will star two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro.

The synopsis reads: “How do we find truth in a world in crisis, one seemingly being torn apart by forces outside our control? And in an era rife with conspiracy theory and subterfuge, how much of those forces are products of our own doing, perhaps even of our own imagining?”

This will mark De Niro’s first time as a series lead, though he has done telemovies such as HBO’s “Wizard of Lies”. Lesli Linka Glatter (“Homeland,” “Mad Men”) has signed on to direct all six installments.

The project hails from Eric Newman (“Narcos”) and NBC News president Noah Oppenheim who serve as writers and executive producers. The pair, along with Pulitzer Prize winner Michael Schmidt, created the story. De Niro, Glatter and Jonathan Glickman will executive produce.
